Image of a dystopia where technology is piled up in the street and burnt (nazi book burning), people on horseback with muskets charging at our robot overlords.

Leaving the theatre wide-eyed after watching the matrix.

Tin foil’s company stocks dropping after it is found to be carcinogenic, then rising again with a demand to mass-produce hats.

your neighbour’s Samsung smart fridge to go through recursive self-improvement (Eliezer Yudkowsky)

What is a Luddite? Historically, a Luddite refers to a group of english working who banded together and destroyed machinary (mainly cotton and wool mills).

Now “Luddite” is used as a derogatory for someone opposed to technology or new ways of working.

It’s a stretch for anyone to justify buying the Samsung smart fridge, but we can safely assume it won’t undergo recursive self-improvement.

The most extreme of these neoluddites call themselves anarcho-primitivists, who believe even agriculture was a mistake and any technology more advanced than banging rocks together.

With the anarchoprimitive revolution there would be mass burnings of computers and microwaves in the town square with the inhabitants dancing naked all around, free of the binds of technology and regulations
